Homemade Shampoo: Here's How !
Its conventional to use ready made shampoos bought from a store but you may want to make a shampoo of your choice from natural herbs at home. The good thing about making a homemade shampoo is that you add herbs to suit your particular needs and can add fragrances of your choice. Home made shampoos do not lather up as much as those produced commercially since they don’t include emulsifier.
Making a homemade shampoo is easy; here you will learn how to make a rosemary shampoo. The recipe requires 1 part each of rosemary, 1 ounce sage, 1 ounce nettles and 8 parts of castile soap and Lavender oil to remove itchy scalp. Start mixing the herbs and keep the mixture tightly sealed in a jar or closed container. Now add 3 tablespoons of the herbal mix to 2 cups of boiling water and allow it to settle for about 20-30 minutes. Add 2 ounces of this mixture to a plastic bowl and add 8 ounces of castile soap.
To make a Chamomile shampoo at home, you need 1 tablespoon soap flakes, 1 teaspoon borax, and chamomile flower in powdered form for fragrance, 3 tablespoons vinegar and hot water. Just add all the ingredients to a plastic bottle and shake well until the mixture is homogeneous. Chamomile is known to lighten the hard straight hair and add sleekness. Homemade shampoos are equally as effective as commercial ones but the good thing is that you can add ingredients and fragrances of your own choice.
